How the breath test works
- Order the test online. No GP referral is needed.
- For a blood, urine or breath test, i-screen emails a pathology request form; take it, printed, with ID to one of its affiliated collection centres. No appointment is needed.
- Results are published to your i-screen dashboard, and you are emailed when they are ready.
At the centre you breathe into a collection bag, drink a test solution containing carbon-labelled urea, wait, then give a second breath sample. i-screen's FAQ says the price on its website includes all fees and charges, and that no Medicare card is needed. A non-designated collection centre may accept the form but will bill you again.
H. pylori breath test preparation: what to do before you go
- No antacids, bismuth preparations or the prescription medicines i-screen lists for 14 days before, per its instructions.
- Fast for 4 to 6 hours before the test.
- Check with your doctor before stopping a prescribed medicine to take the test.
i-screen states on the product page: “A result is not a diagnosis on its own.” Before ordering, the i-screen review sets out who reviews results and the cancellation terms.
